Helping a specialist automotive retailer move into Shopify with a tailored storefront for a large clutch catalogue
The challenge
Performance Clutch sells a wide range of clutches and related performance parts. For buyers, choosing the right product depends on more than price or availability. Vehicle fitment, product type, specifications and supporting guidance all play a role in the buying decision. As the business began its Shopify journey, the challenge was to create an ecommerce experience that could support a large technical catalogue without feeling like a generic storefront. The project focused on an earlier version of the site, helping establish a more structured online sales presence around Shopify while giving the business room to present products and supporting content in a more tailored way.
"From the very first meeting, he quickly got to grips with a complex project and delivered high quality work throughout."
Rob Oakley
Marketing Consultant
Used Shopify as the base for ecommerce operations, giving the business a recognised platform for managing products, orders and online sales.
Built a tailored storefront so specialist clutch listings could be presented more clearly than a standard theme-led catalogue.
Added static content and blog-style surfaces so product guidance and catalogue browsing could sit together as part of the same customer journey.
The solution
We worked on a Shopify-based ecommerce setup with a custom Next.js frontend, giving Performance Clutch a more flexible way to present its product range, support technical buying journeys and publish content alongside the catalogue.
The outcome
The project gave Performance Clutch an early Shopify-based ecommerce presence shaped around the needs of a specialist automotive catalogue. Rather than relying only on a standard Shopify theme, the business had a custom storefront that could present clutch products, supporting information and content in a more considered way. The work showed how Shopify can be used as the commerce foundation while still allowing a more tailored customer experience for technical products, large catalogues and specialist buying journeys.
